Team Roles and Permissions

Sumext separates workspace access by role so employees, contractors, reviewers, and firm staff only see what they need.

The 6 roles

Owner

Full workspace control, billing, team, integrations, approvals, and deletion controls.

Admin

Manage team, approvals, documents, contractors, integrations, expenses, and client workflows.

Member

Upload, review, and process documents where access is granted. Cannot manage billing or core approval settings.

Viewer

Read-only access to permitted dashboard data and documents.

Expense Submitter

Restricted portal for submitting and viewing their own expense claims only.

Contractor

Restricted contractor portal for submitting invoices, timesheets, and viewing their own submission statuses.

Best practice

Use Owner for the business account holder, Admin for operations managers, Member for processing staff, Viewer for read-only stakeholders, Expense Submitter for employees, and Contractor for external suppliers or field workers.
